Name:
Faisal Merican
Birth Date:
25th March 1975, which makes me an Aries.
Childhood ambition:
When I was 5, I wanted to be a fighter pilot. However poor eyesight since Standard Three denied me that particular career option. Plus, I also cannot stand heights. Because of that, I settled for “world domination”. It hasn’t happened yet, but trust me, it will. My other ambitions are to get a book published and make a movie.
Hobbies and interests:
Reading, cooking, guitar playing, video gaming, and I have to admit, I have a soft spot for B-movies, like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
Favourite place to hang out when not working:
At home, either lepak-ing with my wife, playing video games or cooking.
Favourite holiday destination:
Refer to above, although I admit, I have always wanted to travel to that place in Tunisia where they filmed parts of Star Wars. I’d dress up in bath robes and pretend I’m Luke Skywalker.
Favourite food:
That’s a difficult question. I enjoy most food, although I’ve always had a love affair with Italian cuisine.
Favourite TV show:
Oh! There’s so many to choose from, but being a sci-fi geek, I’d have to say that it’s a tie between Doctor Who and the new Battlestar Galactica. I’m also a huge fan of old British comedies, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister. And of course, Dangermouse!
What is your most annoying habit:
Oooh, there are so many! Off the top of my head, I’ll say that it would be my tendency to make jokes. Bad, cringe-worthy jokes that only a 4 year old would appreciate. Sometimes I do pity my colleagues, who have to hear most of them. Not often though, just sometimes.
If you could have dinner with any 5 people in the world, who would they be?
Einstein, Gandhi, Stephen King, cartoonist Gary Larson and blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan
What is your idea of a romantic night:
Quiet dinner, prepared myself. Candle lights. And then watching a laughably bad b-movie with the wife.
Best moment in your career:
Actually having a career is an achievement in itself. Anything else is secondary.
How would you like to be remembered:
As a great cook, a decent guitar player, a passable writer, and most importantly, only slightly insane.
